Working hours: 37 hours a week, 52 week contract

Unique School Solutions are supporting a large secondary school in the S35 area of Sheffield who are needing a Caretaker to ensure the upkeep and safety of their school. The role will include a wide range of responsibilities and duties connected with the fabric of the building, health and safety, grounds, facilities maintenance and security. The role is to start ASAP and for the right person could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks. PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE INVOLVES A ROTATING SHIFT PATTERN, AND WEEKEND WORKING MAY BE REQUIRED OCCASIONALLY.

Overview of the role:

• Security of the school. Being primary keyholder, locking and unlocking premises, checking for break-ins/vandalism, maintaining high levels of security, liaising with security services/emergency services if needed, dealing with alarm and lighting systems, having in-depth location knowledge of things like stopcocks/fuse boards etc
• Maintenance of the school. Carry out basic maintenance including cleaning, plumbing, joinery, painting/decorating, electrical etc, heating system maintenance, fire alarms and security systems, identify and report any work that needs completing, maintaining log books, monitoring contractors on site.
• Supervise cleaning staff and assistant caretakers (if applicable)
• Complete relevant admin tasks such as health and safety regulations and codes of practice, stock control, maintenance and equipment records,

Essential requirements for the role:

• High level of physical fitness
• Proven track record of DIY and practical maintenance skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Sound understanding of Health and Safety, Fire and Emergency procedures
• Reliable and flexible
